The therapists also refer children who need special medical attention (for diagnosis, treatment, equipment and/or medication) to the day hospital and clinic in Plett or to the Knysna/George Hospital. Special cases of children were referred to Social workers.


Children who require special medical attention received treatment and equipment they required. 15 children referred for medical attention to local clinics, Knysna/George and Red Cross.

Encourage parents to become more involved in the activities of Die Sterreweg by inviting them to participate in meetings, workshops and support groups, and to assist with fundraising and awareness events; therapist to meet with parents annually to review their child’s progress.

Outcomes: Generally there was a great improvement in the level of commitment of parents towards centre activities. Open communication in parents meetings, parents were also sharing their ideas and asking questions
